Supreme Court justices ‘privately’ criticized Ginni Thomas: Book

Supreme Court justices privately shared their criticism about Ginni Thomas, the wife of Justice Clarence Thomas, over her “various political schemes,” according to a new book.
In her book, Nine Black Robes: Inside the Supreme Court’s Drive to the Right and Its Historic Consequences, CNN senior Supreme Court reporter Joan Biskupic claims Clarence Thomas “enjoyed a personal loyalty among his colleagues” despite them sharing gripes about his spouse.

“Even privately, as they criticized Ginni Thomas’s various political schemes, including those tied to Trump’s effort to reverse the 2020 election results, most justices did not judge Thomas harshly,” Biskupic writes without saying how many or which justices levied criticism against Ginni Thomas’s political activism.
Clarence Thomas faced scrutiny from various Democrats and across various media reports for declining to recuse himself from cases involving the 2020 presidential election and the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. Democrats including then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (CA) and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (NY) called on him to do so in March last year.
Ginni Thomas, an attorney and conservative activist, spoke to the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol in September, though her name never appeared in the final 845-page report from the committee. Ginni Thomas reportedly told the committee that she believed former President Donald Trump was cheated out of his second term, according to committee Chairman Bennie Thompson (D-MS).
Text messages revealed Ginni Thomas encouraged then White House chief of staff Mark Meadows following the 2020 election to push Trump not to concede the results favoring then-presidential candidate Joe Biden. She also called to “release the Kraken” in reference to lawyer Sidney Powell’s legal theories to challenge the election.

During her deposition, Ginni Thomas was adamant that her husband was not involved in her political or election advocacy.
The Washington Examiner reached out to the Supreme Court and Ginni Thomas’s lawyer for comment.
