A settlement program from a construction company can give eligible applicants a payment worth up to $1,300.

The payments from the settlement program will come from Balfour Beatty, which is paying $350,000 in settlements over claims that the company made improper employee background checks on its employees between Aug. 13, 2019, and Feb. 28, 2022. A lawsuit claimed Balfour Beatty failed to inform its employees of these background checks, violating both the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act and California’s Investigative Consumer Reporting Agencies Act, according to the U.S. Sun.
