Book flights in the middle of the week

Flying during the week instead of the weekend will save ticket buyers loads of money. Weekday tickets are 12% to 20% cheaper than weekend tickets.

For economy tickets, prices on Tuesday and Wednesday are generally 24% lower than peak prices, saving roughly $85 per ticket. Tickets on Sundays are the most expensive and should be avoided for those wishing to save money.

Book one-way flights over round trips

Booking one-way flights allows ticket buyers more options to choose from for their travels, as they can book different airlines to find the best deals for the day they are flying. An example of this would be Delta having a cheaper flight to one’s destination and American offering cheaper returning tickets.

Choose a budget airline

Budget airlines can also provide cheaper flights than larger airlines like United and Delta. Travelers should be forewarned, however, that additional fees for carry-on bags and other amenities, which are typically free on larger airlines, will also need to be paid. Random seating, instead of selecting your seat, is also a part of the experience of buying tickets from a budget airline.
