The View’s Sunny Hostin attacked the Republican Party on Thursday, accusing it of contradicting its own beliefs by restricting the freedoms of women to get abortions and parents to take children to drag queen performances.

“If you’re taking freedom away from women to purchase an abortion pill, that’s less freedom,” she said. “If you’re taking away from parents the freedom to take their kids to a drag brunch if they want to, that’s less freedom.”

Hostin also said that “conservatism was always about limited government. Conservatism was always about more freedom.”

According to her, laws restricting abortions and drag shows “[fly] in the face of what a DeSantis or the Republican Party generally would believe in.”

The hosts were discussing a recent move by Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) to not do business with Walgreens after the pharmacy company said it would not distribute the abortion drug mifepristone in certain states.

“Walgreens, are you just scared of all these old white men who are coming after you?” Whoopi Goldberg asked. “Don’t be scared of them. Be scared of the women. Be scared of the women.”

Joy Behar defended Newsom’s actions, saying that “somebody has to stick up for the women and he’s doing that. Thank goodness we have somebody like that.”

“Walgreens, they should just say, ‘Well, you know, you don’t want us to sell birth control pills or whatever, the abortion pills, we’re not going to sell Viagra pills either,'” she said.

“Then you’ll see some action when these men can’t get their blue pill to keep their functioning with their young wives,” Behar said.

In a recent statement, Walgreens said: “We are not distributing Mifepristone at this time. We intend to be a certified pharmacy and will distribute Mifepristone only in those jurisdictions where it is legal and operationally feasible.”

Newsom responded to the news on Monday, tweeting: “California won’t be doing business with @walgreens — or any company that cowers to the extremists and puts women’s lives at risk.”
