Stand-up comedian and actor Mike Epps found himself detained at Indianapolis International Airport Sunday after he brought a handgun into the security checkpoint area.

Airport officials began an investigation shortly after 9:00 a.m. when they suspected there was a firearm inside the comedian’s backpack, according to a report.

The firearms investigation was conducted, and airport police seized the .38 Special Airweight revolver discovered in his backpack along with four loaded rounds.

None of the rounds had been loaded under the firing pin, the report noted.

Epps said he had forgotten that the gun was in his bag after performing at Gainbridge Fieldhouse the day before, and posted about it on Instagram.
