Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon has already cost people their safety. Now, his egotistical power trip is costing taxpayers millions as well.
Deputy District Attorney Shawn Randolph won her retaliation lawsuits against Gascon and is to be given $1.5 million in taxpayer money as a result. Randolph alleged that Gascon effectively demoted her and denied her job opportunities after she spoke out against his policies, including the minimization of criminal conduct for juvenile offenders no matter how violent they are.
URBAN DECAY: THERE’S A REASON CRIMINALS LOVE LOS ANGELES’S DISTRICT ATTORNEY
Gascon recently gave a career criminal just two years in a female juvenile facility despite the fact that he is now 26 years old, a man (who claims to be transgender), and molested a 10-year-old girl, in case you are wondering why Randolph would feel compelled to speak out against her boss’s policies.
There are 16 other retaliation lawsuits against Gascon from prosecutors, who Gascon treats more harshly than career criminals, gang members, and child molesters. In the aforementioned child molestation case, Gascon gave a sweetheart deal to the criminal, Hannah “James” Tubbs, but suspended a prosecutor because he dared to refer to Tubbs, who is a man, as a man.
All of this stems from Gascon’s view that the criminal justice system is broken and only he can fix it. He decided that the job of prosecutors should not be to seek justice for the victims of crime and seek out appropriate punishments for criminals, but that they should act like defense attorneys and do everything they can to make sure criminals are out on the streets as soon as possible.
The result has been Gascon coming up with excuses to go soft on criminals. In the case of Tubbs, it was because he was 17 at the time of his crime. Therefore, he should be put in a juvenile facility, even though he is now 26, but it must be a female facility. Wouldn’t want to deny the child molester his chosen identity, after all. For other criminals, it means ignoring sentencing enhancements for gun crimes or gang membership.
Gascon doesn’t want to prosecute criminals if they are illegal immigrants, he doesn’t want victims to know when criminals who harmed them and their families are released from prison, and he even seeks sentences so light that a convicted felon in illegal possession of a firearm was given just 20 days in jail. That criminal went on to kill two police officers after being released.
All in a day’s work for George Gascon.
Gascon had to discipline prosecutors to try and keep them in line after they objected to his absurd decisions, and now, that is coming back to bite Los Angeles residents as well. Chances are this $1.5 million retaliation payout won’t be the last one taxpayers are forced to cover on behalf of Gascon’s power trip. His delusional worldview was already dangerous. Now, it is going to become more expensive.
