Dear Tim Scott, Democrats have been ‘weaponizing race’ for decades

Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) was on Fox News last week and discussed the racial matters plaguing our country. He lamented the damage the “progressives” have been doing to our country, especially concerning race matters. He said they were now “using race as a weapon in our country in a way that we haven’t seen in three or four decades.” While Scott raised many valid points, his comment was rather peculiar, mainly because Democrats have been weaponizing anti-white sentiment in the country for decades.
“Right now, we have politicians who want to say that grievance is our future and not greatness,” Scott said last week at a fundraising dinner in Iowa. “Because they believe that by using the provocative racial history of our nation, but they can create a wedge in this nation.”
Create? The wedge is already there and has been for quite some time now. It’s been an integral part of the Democrats’ political playbook for decades. Scott knows this and even admitted as much nearly two years ago.
“Race, from a political perspective, is being weaponized in a way that it’s never been done before, and it’s being weaponized by the Left because they find that to be very profitable,” Scott said in August 2021. “And frankly, if you can tell someone who the boogeyman is, then you don’t have to worry about that part of society anymore,” he said. “It’s a very dangerous weapon.”
Furthermore, even though Scott said this in 2021, he could have said it in 2011 or even in 2001. This is not any groundbreaking, revelatory information. It is what Democrats do. They use race to create division, sow discord, and influence public opinion throughout the country. Creating societal discontent and divisiveness is a left-wing tactic that originated in the Marxist orthodoxy of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Scott’s intentions were noble, but pointing out what Democrats are doing and acting as if it is some relatively new phenomenon does the country a great disservice. Scott needs to highlight how this is what the Left has been all along, and, unless something changes drastically, it is what it will always be. Scott should reinforce this when he discusses such matters.
