WATCH LIVE: Alex Murdaugh murder trial continues with more defense witnesses

The defense in the murder trial against disgraced South Carolina lawyer Alex Murdaugh is expected to rest its case Monday.

Murdaugh has been charged with murdering his wife, Margaret, and his son, Paul, in an alleged attempt to hide his personal and legal financial troubles.

He testified on the stand Thursday and Friday in his own defense. Murdaugh maintained his innocence relating to the June 2021 murders but admitted to cheating clients out of money while at his law firm and lying to police about his whereabouts the night of the murders.

Four final witnesses are set to be called by the defense Monday, with jury deliberations for the trial currently on track to begin sometime this week, per Reuters.
