Six people were killed in a series of shootings in Mississippi Friday, police said.

Tate County Sheriff Brad Lance told CBS News that the shootings occurred in a store and two separate homes in Arkabutla, Mississippi.

One man was killed in the store, one woman was killed in one of the homes, and two people were killed in the other home.

The other two victims were killed on a nearby road.

In the home where the woman was killed, her husband was injured after the shooter threw an object at him, WMC reported. He said that he did not know the attacker.

The suspect, 52-year-old Richard Dale Crum, was found in his vehicle and arrested without incident.

Governor Tate Reeves said in a statement that Crum is believed to have acted alone.

“The individual responsible has been taken into custody alive. At this time, we believe he acted alone. His motive is not yet known,” he said.
