Tesla has recalled at least 363,000 vehicles featuring its “Full Self-Driving” system following pressure by regulation officials to fix unsafe actions.

“Full Self-Driving” systems can malfunction in and around intersections and can fail to follow the speed limit, according to a report.

The recall comes as part of a wider investigation into Tesla’s automated driving systems by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and questions CEO Elon Musk’s suggestion that cars with the “Full Self-Driving” system can operate safer than humans.

Tesla is set to remedy the concerns in a coming online software update, according to documents posted Thursday by the NHTSA.

The documents state that, while Tesla is performing its recall, the car manufacturer does not concur with the NHTSA’s analysis.

Problems, including those regarding traveling straight through an intersection in a turn-only lane or traveling through a yellow light without considerable caution, occur in  “certain rare circumstances,” according to the NHTSA.

“FSD beta software that allows a vehicle to exceed speed limits or travel through intersections in an unlawful or unpredictable manner increases the risk of a crash,” the documents read.

Musk challenged the notion of presenting a recall as a mandated over-the-air software update.

It’s  “anachronistic and just flat wrong!”
