Eric Swalwell dances for attention on the corpses of shooting victims

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) is not a serious or intelligent man, and he personifies the most ghoulish position of the Democratic Party when it comes to gun control.
With his newfound free time after being booted from the House Intelligence Committee, Swalwell took to Twitter to smear conservatives after three people were killed in a shooting at Michigan State University. “It’s very simple: you’re either here for the kids or the killers,” Swalwell wrote. “Time and again, Republicans have chosen their side.”
For once in his mediocre political career, let’s treat Swalwell as if his opinion is worthwhile. According to him, Republicans choose the side of killers because they oppose additional gun control policies that Democrats like him support. If those gun control policies were in place, supposedly no one would ever be shot. Republicans have blood on their hands, if you were to ask Swalwell.
So let’s extend a challenge to Eric Swalwell. Set aside how obnoxious it is to suggest that Republicans deliberately “side” with those who kill children. Could he name just one policy that would have prevented this shooting? Surely he must be able to think of one for him to fire off such inflammatory remarks, right?
The answer is that he could not name one such policy. The shooter at Michigan State almost certainly used a handgun, as evidenced by the photos of him released by police. That means that a ban on “assault weapons” or AR-15s would have done nothing. Arbitrary limits on magazine capacity are irrelevant, as is the possibility that a universal background check law would have done anything since the shooter was able to legally purchase firearms by all indications.
Michigan State University is also a gun-free zone, though I suspect Democrats won’t really want to talk about that.
The shooter would be able to legally buy a gun because he wasn’t a convicted felon, which he should have been. He was able to plead down from a felony to a misdemeanor thanks to then-Ingham County District Attorney Carol Siemon. Had he been convicted of a felony, he could still be in prison right now and would be unable to legally purchase a firearm when he got out. But Siemon believes in letting criminals off the hook because of “dramatic racial inequity,” so she let him off with a slap on the wrist.

Siemon is one of several radically soft-on-crime district attorneys supported by Democratic megadonor George Soros. To use Swalwell’s words, this would mean that the Democratic Party has chosen the side of killers over the side of children. If anyone can be said to have blood on their hands, it would be Democrats such as Swalwell, who continue to shrug off crime or listen to (and take money from) pro-criminal activists.
Swalwell doesn’t care, though. He’s standing on the corpses left behind by policies his party supports and dancing like a circus clown because that is all he joined Congress to do. He is a camera chaser, a hack, and a mark for Chinese Communist Party spies, but he will never be mistaken for a serious legislator.
