An off-duty police officer in Texas shot a man in the chest Saturday after the man stole the officer’s stun gun and used it on him, authorities said.

The incident took place around 11:59 p.m. outside a local sports bar while the person was being escorted out of the establishment, according to reports.

Staff at the Twin Peaks had asked the man to leave following a disturbance, and when he refused to do so, an off-duty officer with Somerset Police who was working security guided the man outside for “being intoxicated and belligerent,” according to the San Antonio Police Department.

The man resisted the officer’s efforts to escort him out and was able to grab the officer’s stun gun and shock him, police said.

Stunned, the officer returned fire and shot the person in the chest.
