Political commentator and Fox News host Mark Levin invited Gabe Kaminsky, the Washington Examiner‘s investigative reporter, to his show on Friday to discuss his recent reporting on conservative and right-leaning outlets being blacklisted.

Kaminsky discussed the three-part series of articles he wrote regarding the blacklisting of conservative news outlets and how the blacklisting movement is being pushed by several organizations, including a British organization called the Global Disinformation Index, which has two affiliated U.S. nonprofit groups.

GDI and similar groups are “feeding secret blacklists” of outlets that they determine to be “disinformation” to advertising companies, with the goal being to “defund and deplatform” media outlets considered to be pushing disinformation and “disfavored speech,” with the Washington Examiner among these platforms, Kaminsky said in his interview.

“Advertising companies, such as the Microsoft-owned Xandr, they are subscribing to several of these, they are called exclusion lists, and this is essentially dictating where ad companies are placing advertisements in media outlets, and what we found is that the Washington Examiner is one outlet that is on this blacklist,” Kaminsky said. “But we also learned through an ad source that Breitbart news is another outlet on this blacklist.”

Kaminsky also discussed how GDI lists 10 right-leaning outlets deemed “the riskiest,” and the Washington Examiner spoke anonymously to a board member on GDI who said it is “very probable” that the outlets on the “riskiest” list would also be on the blacklist. Some of the outlets on the riskiest list include the Daily Wire, the American Conservative, the Blaze, and Newsmax.

Kaminsky revealed that GDI had received $330,000 from two State Department-backed entities linked to the highest levels of government. The revelation has prompted two members of Congress, Reps. Michael McCaul (R-TX) and Jim Banks (R-IN) to tell the Washington Examiner they intend to investigate how the federal government is using taxpayer dollars when it comes to “disinformation” initiatives.

“House Republicans will be hauling these bad actors before Congress, and I absolutely support legislation to ban federal funding of anti-free speech groups,” he told the Washington Examiner, referring to private sector actors and certain federal officials.
