House Republican Conference chairwoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY) endorsed Donald Trump ahead of his expected presidential campaign announcement.
In a statement to the New York Times, Stefanik said she was “proud” to endorse Trump for president in 2024, even though he hasn’t announced yet. The endorsement from the third highest ranking Republican is sure to serve as a much-needed boost to the former president, who has faced some pushmack from within his party after the GOP’s weaker-than-expected performance in the midterm elections.

“I am proud to endorse Donald Trump for president in 2024,” Stefanik said. “It is time for Republicans to unite around the most popular Republican in America who has a proven track record of conservative governance.”
She elaborated on her endorsement in a statement to Breitbart News. “Republican voters determine who is the leader of the Republican Party and it’s very clear President Trump is the leader of the Republican party. What the media fails to report is that we just won the midterms and flipped the House,” she told the outlet.
Republicans are projected to win the House, and could still snag the Senate, but with a number of races still not yet called, which party controls either chamber in the next term remains an open question.

“It is time for Republicans to unite around the most popular Republican in America, who has a proven track record of conservative governance. Poll after poll shows that President Trump would defeat any Republican challenger by massive margins, and would beat Joe Biden if the election were held today. President Trump has always put America First, and I look forward to supporting him so we can save America,” she added.
Trump is set to will deliver a “special announcement” on Tuesday at 9 p.m. EST at his Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida, and it is widely expected that this will be the event where he declares a bid for president in 2024.
