Democrats started the culture war over transgenderism

Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R-AR) said we are mired in a “left-wing culture war we didn’t start and never wanted to fight.” She is correct, and nowhere is that more clear than in the Democratic Party’s obsession with bending society to the whims of transgender activists.
Within the span of a few years, the issue of gender dysphoria went from relative obscurity to something that must be accommodated and promoted in all aspects of life. In a few short years, women’s and girls’ sports have been forced to accept men and boys despite the clear natural athletic advantages male athletes have over female athletes. Female athletes have lost scholarships, roster spots, victories, and state records to male competitors who claim to be female.

This has extended into female-only spaces, with men now permitted in women’s locker rooms in schools and other facilities. Even female prisoners are unable to avoid the craze, as male murderers and rapists have been placed in women’s prisons — all they have to do is claim that they are women.
The craze has continued unabated into the medical field. People suffering from gender dysphoria are told that the only thing that can solve their mental health problems is to medically transition, this despite the fact that such procedures do not actually reduce the risk of suicide and have terrible side effects that many are uninformed about, including infertility.
Worst of all, this has been extended to children. Influenced by social media and other social stimuli, children have increasingly taken up transgender identities to feel like a part of some community. Those children are now being pushed down the path of medical transitions, complete with puberty blockers, hormone replacement therapy, and surgical mutilation before the age of 18.
None of this is organic, nor was any of this dredged up by Republican legislators or right-wing pundits. This social contagion has been fueled by transgender activists and progressives in the entertainment industry, with the legal might of Democratic politicians behind them. The mutilation of gender-confused children is supported by Democrats all the way up to the Biden administration. Democratic politicians even want teachers who learn of children changing their identities at school to withhold that information from their parents.
The Republican legislative push to provide parents with transparency and to protect children from irreversible mutilation is not a culture war offensive. It is a response to the rapid Democratic assault on biology, which continues to lie to adults and children alike that they can simply change their gender with no problems and that it is in fact what is best for them. Republicans did not choose this fight, but it is a fight they must take up.
