4.9 million Fabuloso cleaners recalled for bacteria exposure

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of several Fabuloso cleaning products on Wednesday.

According to Fabuloso, which is a Colgate-Palmolive product, “a preservative was not added at the intended levels during manufacturing. With inadequate preservative, there is a risk of bacteria growth in the recalled products.”

The recalled products include certain Fabuloso Multi-Purpose Cleaners. According to the recall notice, roughly 4.9 million products are affected.

Consumers can receive either refunds or replacements for the recalled products.

The CPSC explained that “people with weakened immune systems, external medical devices, or underlying lung conditions who are exposed to the bacteria face a risk of serious infection that may require medical treatment.”

However, it noted that those with healthy immune systems likely will not be affected.

The products were sold at Amazon, Dollar General, Family Dollar, Home Depot, Sam’s Club, and Walmart, as well as other nationwide retailers. They were sold between December 2022 and January 2023 for prices ranging from $1 to $11.
