Biden’s immigration policies are destroying border towns

President Joe Biden’s terrible border policies are wreaking havoc on overwhelmed border towns. Now, the only hospital in one such town is on the brink of collapse.
The Yuma Regional Medical Center in Yuma, Arizona, has been overwhelmed by the surge in illegal immigrants, with its president and CEO claiming that the uncompensated care for immigrants over the last six months amounts to over $20 million. “We’ve provided $20 million in care to the migrants that are crossing the border and we just don’t have a payer source for those individuals,” he said. “It’s not a sustainable model to have these continued rising expenses without a revenue source to offset that.”

He also added that “the infrastructure that we’ve had to add is uncompensated as well” and that the hospital’s maternity unit has reached capacity, noting that they have had to “delay some of the planned inductions for our residents.”
Yuma alone saw some 300,000 illegal immigrants in 2022. Yuma only has a population of around 97,000. The surge hasn’t just overwhelmed its hospital. Food banks and churches have been strained by the unending flow of immigrants, crops have been damaged as immigrants cross through farmland, and some families have hired private security to protect their own yards.
This scene has been playing out in towns across the border to the point that state governments in Arizona and Texas have been sending busloads to other states to lighten the load. The surge is so bad that Democratic-run Colorado began busing immigrants out of Denver to other states, and New York City has complained about the strain on its resources.

All of this is because Biden has refused to enforce existing immigration laws and set out to dismantle effective policies, such as the “Remain in Mexico” policy, as soon as he took office. Biden and the Democratic Party do not care that border towns are overwhelmed or that hundreds of thousands of immigrants are crossing the border illegally every month. The status quo is perfectly fine with them, and they don’t intend to do anything about it any time soon.
