Lanny Poffo dead: Macho Man Randy Savage’s brother dies at 68

Former professional wrestler Lanny Poffo, who was the younger brother of Randy “Macho Man” Savage, died at 68 years old.

WWE Hall of Famer Hacksaw Jim Duggan announced the news on Thursday.

“With a very, very heavy heart, I’ve been asked to let everyone know about the passing of our friend and colleague Lanny Poffo, The Genius. RIP Lanny,” Duggan wrote.

The date of Poffo’s death is unknown, and no cause of death has been revealed.

Poffo was known to many as both “The Genius” and “Leaping Lanny Poffo.”

He wrestled for World Wrestling Entertainment, at a time when it was known as the World Wrestling Federation, from 1985 to 1992. He then joined rival World Championship Wrestling from 1995 to 1999.

According to online wrestling database Cagematch, his last match took place in January 2020 in Rensselaer, New York.

In 2015, he inducted his brother, Randy “Macho Man” Savage, into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Savage could not be there himself, as he died in 2011 at 58 years old after a car crash.
