Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) slammed Vice President Kamala Harris’s handling of the border crisis, noting that she has only shown how inept she is.

Kennedy told Fox News’s Jesse Watters Primetime Monday that he spent time with Harris on the judiciary committee when she was a senator and that he liked her. However, he was quick to point out that he did “not think she has been a good vice president.”

“For whatever reason, every time she speaks, she shows us how much she doesn’t know,” Kennedy said. “Along with the president, of course, she has been dead wrong about how to fix the border.”

The Louisiana Republican outlined six ways he would address border security.

“It’s not quantum physics,” Kennedy said. “No. 1: It is against the law to try to sneak into our country. If you are caught, I would deport you immediately. No. 2: It is against the law to enter our country and to try to stay here by claiming you’re a political refugee if you are not. If you are caught lying, I would deport you. Immediately.”

Kennedy continued that he would also adopt a remain-in-Mexico program that only permitted political refugees to enter the country for a court date. Only those whose cases then win would be allowed to stay within the United States.

He also suggested the establishment of a safe third country policy where refugees “have to seek asylum in the first safe country [they cross into], which usually isn’t the United States.”

“No. 5: As you can probably tell, I would sharpen the definition of political refugee. And No. 6: I would finish the border wall,” he added. “Problem solved.”
