As rates of chest reconstruction surgery for minors have risen by almost 400% in the last several years, designer luxury clothing and handbag company Burberry has unveiled an ad campaign featuring a shirtless, young-looking person with double mastectomy scars.
The photo is a part of the designer’s Valentine’s Day “B:Mine” campaign.
A video from the same campaign features several scantily clad LGBT couples embracing and kissing, including the person with the double mastectomy scars.

Comments on the company’s posts were not pleased, with one user writing, “This has nothing to do with fashion. Unfollowing.”
Sri Lankan entrepreneur Otara Gunewardene also commented, writing, “Wish you would just let us enjoy fashion like we used to.”
Several other commenters expressed their intent to unfollow the company. One user further said, “I don’t want my kids to see this! Disturbing,” to which another agreed, adding “my thought!!!! Very disturbing. Like sexualizing everything lately.”
Some viewers also questioned where the garments Burberry is advertising are, a knock at the barely clothed models.
The controversial campaign then began being shared on Twitter, where conservative commentator Kingsley Cortes compared side-by-side photos of an older Burberry ad and the new ad.

“Genuinely wondering why @Burberry is generating entire add campaigns catering to an infinitesimally small demographic that doesn’t remotely shop at their stores… they aren’t the only high end designer engaging this nonsensical ‘activist’ marketing. What could go wrong..?” tweeted fellow commentator Ty’s Tough Talk.

“This makes me not want to buy Burberry,” added conservative activist Morgonn McMichael.

Burberry did not respond to the Washington Examiner’s request for comment.
Chest reconstruction similar to that evidenced by Burberry’s model’s scars has, as noted earlier, increased exponentially, particularly for minors. Last year, a study further revealed that the amount of transgender teenagers has doubled since 2017. In addition, a journal article, also from last year, suggested that young girls are becoming more likely to undergo gender transition treatment.
