Democrats have spent the better part of the last two years lamenting political violence in the wake of the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol. They claim such violence threatens our democracy, they label perpetrators as extremists, and they consider anyone who caused carnage dangerous — so long as the bad actors were people on the Right. When left-wing agitators cause mayhem, Democrats typically deploy a different tactic: complete and utter silence.

PROSECUTORS SHOULD SHOW NO MERCY FOR ATLANTA RIOTERS. NONE.

The left-wing group known as antifa unleashed a wave of violence in Atlanta in response to a new police training facility being built in the area. One of the protesters, Manuel Esteban Paez Teran, shot an officer in the pelvis last week after the city’s police mobilized to remove protesters from the area. Police returned fire and subsequently killed Teran. This led to antifa’s “call to arms.” The left-wing group feels they should be able to shoot police officers without accountability or said officers defending themselves.

But where are the prominent Democrat voices who vehemently condemned political violence for the last two years? As my colleague Quin Hillyer discussed yesterday, Democrats’ silence on antifa’s actions has been deafening.

Why hasn’t President Joe Biden condemned antifa’s actions?

Why hasn’t Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) or Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA)?

The answer is they don’t really care about political violence. Democrats are only “outraged” at violence when right-wing activists commit violence and can use it to manipulate public opinion and extort it for their political advantage.

Democrats’ impotence regarding violent left-wing protests is nothing new. Whether it was Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) urging violent confrontation, Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) justifying acts of terror because of police shootings, or the entire Democrat Party’s enabling of the 2020 Black Lives Matter riots after George Floyd died in police custody, very rarely do Democrats’ actions speak louder than their words. And, where most Republicans openly condemned the Jan. 6 rioters, the country is still waiting to hear a similar denunciation regarding the devastation from the 2020 rioting.

All political violence is wrong, and anyone who commits it, regardless of political ideology or affiliation, should face accountability and punitive action. However, Democrats only want justice when the perpetrators do not align with their agenda or beliefs. They’re frauds and phonies, and their failure to provide any meaningful scolding regarding the violence in Atlanta is just another example.

No one should expect Democrats to condemn antifa because their horrific acts align with the Democrat agenda. They don’t care if the rules are broken just so long as their political party reaps the social benefits. Sooner rather than later, the country must start denouncing the Democrats for their shenanigans. The public must embrace common sense instead of the leftist extremism that dominates our country’s culture. Democrats are the party of radical destruction and fanaticism; their antics must be stopped. They are the biggest threat to our constitutional republic.
