The film becomes the sixth movie ever to cross the $2 billion worldwide box office mark, according to Deadline.

With its worldwide grosses, the film is now one of only five films to do so. Avatar 2 joins 1997’s Titanic, 2015’s Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens, 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War, and 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.

Director James Cameron returned to lead the second installment of the Avatar franchise. The original film currently holds the record for being the biggest-selling film of all time, according to Box Office Mojo. Cameron has teased additional sequels.
